This Vale of Soul-Making

Imaginial Strategies for Troubled Times

With Boe Huntress and Rainer Baumorr

“This Vale of Soul-Making” is an online offering structured to provide a container for those in the midst of transformation. It is not a fulcrum to initiate transformational processes, but rather a place for those in the midst of such processes to be held, experience insight relevant to their experience, and have some connection with others who are in a similar place.

3 Pillars

Insight

We will draw on the work of poets, storytellers, and writers of the mythopoetic movement who have contributed work which addresses the troubles of our time in creative and innovative ways.

Connection

We will spend time in structured small groups and as a singular large group, offering witness to one another and reflecting on our own journey in light of the material we are exploring.

Practice

We will engage in nurturing physical practices to promote a sense of ease in the body which will allow us to be more present with our mythic and imaginal explorations.

About:

These 2x monthly online meetings are designed around the premise that we need mythic insight into the times we live in. Not only this, but we need to cultivate connection and peace within ourselves in order to continue to work on a soul level with the challenges we face.

Participants are not required to come to every meeting to benefit from this offering, however there will be a process of cultivation across meetings that will add depth to each successive gathering.

You’ll be working with facilitators Boe Huntress and Rainer Baumorr, as we explore the work of the many contributors to the mythopoetic movement of the last 40 years and beyond. We will look at writers, storytellers, and poets, such as Marion Woodman, James Hillman, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, James Hollis, Robert Bly, Diane di Prima, Thomas Moore, and many others. Additionally, we will use this space to cultivate a nurturing connection to our bodies. Participants will be guided in resourcing practices with the understanding that attention to the soul goes beyond intention, requiring care for the body, mind, and heart.

As stewards of the School of Mythopoetics, we thank our forebears for the work they’ve offered us, and dedicate these offerings to the ongoing project of awakening the mythic imagination in service to our personal and collective soul’s deepest unfolding.

Our payment/registration options are structured to encourage a particular kind of container in which we cultivate consistency and depth.

Please read the below text before registering so you know what you’re signing up for.

Meeting Structure

Each month we’ll bring focus to a particular piece of content (i.e. an excerpt of writing, a poem, a story, a podcast episode) by or about the work of one of the many mythopoetic luminaries who have given us work to draw upon. This content will be sent to registered participants via email one week before our meeting to give ample time to engage with the material. We’ll use it to spur reflection and focus our conversations over the two meetings held in a single month.

  • Rainer is a bardic storyteller and somatic practitioner.
