About Me

Rainer is a bardic storyteller and co-founder of The School of Mythopoetics. As a facilitator of men’s work, embodiment, and ritual storytelling events, Rainer weaves his understanding of myth, culture, the body, and an appreciation for the diversity of men’s experiences into his various roles and writing. He avidly follows the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has since its inception, ever eager to unearth the gems of mythic wisdom hidden within. He lives between Portland and London with his partner, Boe, and their tabby cat, Momo.

Rainer has guided groups and individuals into deep states of embodied presence through breath and bodywork for over ten years. During his musical studies in Portland, Oregon he found himself drawn to the literature of the Mythopoetic Movement of the 90’s. His formal study of music soon became woven with an avid exploration of myth.

Rainer has wrestled with issues of masculinity from an early age. The loss of his father in childhood and the recognition of an absence of masculine mentoring in our culture have motivated his path and inspired a fervent dedication to this much needed culture work. He was inspired to bring his gifts in embodiment, somatics, healing work, writing, and the bardic arts to the practice of men’s work.

He’s been active as a bard, bringing story, song, and poetry to his local area and abroad. Notably from 2023-24 he has co-facilitated a course for men on feminine archetypes, two multi-day men’s grief rituals, a somatic group geared toward anti-racism, and a Boys Coming-of-Age Program. Rainer’s calling to work with men also led him to train as a trauma-healing practitioner through Somatic Experiencing International.
